We are an initiative of public and private organizations and businesses dedicated to promoting the risk and safety management capacities of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in tourism sectors worldwide.
This website was jointly launched by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Explore Worldwide as part of an international project on risk and safety management skill building in adventure tourism destinations.
The website will be continuously updated as learnings and experiences are collected from around the world.
Who we are
We are a team of dedicated experts located around the globe. We closely work and cooperate with a variety of stakeholders in different tourism destinations. We actively seek synergies with various organizations and projects to ensure sustainable and impactful actions.
Our Partners
We aim to improve Risk and Safety Management in different tourism destinations. To reach that goal, we support and partner with a variety of stakeholders. Our partners currently include, but are not limited to, the following institutions and actors:
- International and national Tour Operators
- Other small and medium sized enterprises active in the tourism industry such as small guesthouses; transport companies; equipment outfitters; a.o.
- Tourism personnel and practitioners such as guides, drivers, kitchen personnel;
- Ministries of Tourism and other national governmental organizations
- Tourism Associations, Tourism Unions and other nongovernmental organizations active in the tourism sector;
- Universities and tourism training centres offering tourism programs and trainings.
Supported Countries
We are currently active in the following countries: Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Morocco and Turkey. Through the online trainings and resources available on this website, we were able to support organizations and individuals in various countries. We are continuously expanding our outreach to support the adventure tourism industry around the globe.
International project
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and international tour operator Explore Worldwide have joined forces in a strategic partnership to reinforce the safety skills of tour operators and their extended suppliers (guides, drivers, accommodations, etc).
Objective
Micro-, small- and medium-sized tourism service providers are implementing a modern risk and safety management system.
Target countries
Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, North Macedonia, Georgia and Turkey.
